D.I.Y. All-Natural Sugar Body Scrub

We get that life can be hectic and Mother’s Day has a way of creeping up on you fast. This DIY all-natural sugar body scrub checks all the boxes for the perfect Mother’s Day gift, as it’s thoughtful + handmade, and it’s a fantastic scrub that will have you hooked enough to probably never buy any other body scrub again.

DIY coconut body scrub

This scrub is a great multi-purposed product. It is a serious moisturizer and keeps your skin soft after toweling off, it works wonders as an all-natural face scrub for dry skin and makeup remover, and it’s a great way to prep your legs + bikini area before shaving and/or polish off after shaving. You can even use it as a deeply moisturizing scalp scrub (omit Vitamin C powder if you do) as a relaxing pre-shower ritual.

With that being said, being a mom is a full-time job at the least and treating our mothers to something that encourages some quality R+R is always a win.

Ingredients + materials:

  • Mason jar + lid
  • Ribbon
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup of sea salt
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil (or your favorite oil of choice: jojoba, almond, grape seed, olive)
  • 1 TBSP vitamin E oil
  • 1/8 tsp of natural almond extract
  • 1 tsp vitamin C powder (optional)

If you’re using coconut oil, heat it to liquid form in the microwave or double boiler pot. Pour the liquid into a large mixing bowl (carefully!).

Add sugar, salt, vitamin E oil, almond extract and vitamin C powder in a large mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly.

Pack down the mixture in a clean mason jar with a spoon or with your (washed!!) hands. Secure the lid + store it in the fridge so the mixture solidifies quickly without all of it sinking to the bottom. Store in a cool, dry, (dark place if you use vitamin C powder) place.

Remove from fridge + add your finishing touches. Tie a ribbon around the jar, attach a love note, and a bar of delicious dark chocolate or this PNW local, organic, hand-poured soy candle. If you have extra scrub left in your mixing bowl, be sure to pack another jar to treat yourself or another mother or woman in your life that you love + admire.
